He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Merritt and Margaret Merritt (Koontz); and his daughter Renee Merritt. He is survived by: his close friend Dilly; his wife Marlene; his children, Rita Eastman (Scott) of Washington, Steve Merritt (Jen) of Indiana, Scott Merritt (Amy) of South Carolina, Sam Merritt (Jennifer) of Sebring, FL and Christina Stearns (Jesse) of Indiana; and his sister-in-law Phyllis Lewis of Lake Placid, FL.. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and a brother.
