He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Kates and Stella Kates; and his siblings, Wanda Stanton and Willis Kates (Bud). He is survived by: his wife Helen Kates of Zellwood, FL; his children, Donna Meyer of Apopka, FL and Bruce Kates (Kimberly) of Wentzville, MO; his grandchildren, Pam Flor (Chris), Lisa Meyer, Aaron Kates and Ethan Kates; his great grandchildren, Emily Flor and Hannah Flor; and his siblings, Earl Kates (Karen) of Linton, IN and Thelma Kates. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Cox Funeral Home (218 S Meridian St, Jasonville, IN 47438).
