He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Sluder and Gertrude Sluder (Fuss); his siblings, Sarah Vancott, Wiley Sluder, Lois Epperson, Linda Costley and Butch Sluder; and his son Tim Hatfield.

He is survived by: his children, Richard Sluder (Lynn) of Yulee, William Sluder (late Carrie) of Yulee, Donna Lee (Stephen) of Yulee and Douglas Sluder (Regina) of Yulee; and his sister Deborah Pear of Atlanta. He is also survived by six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren.
