He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Gainey; his parents, Clayton Gainey and Matilda Gainey; and his siblings, Barbara Ann Yonn, Joyce Vivian Page, Francis Beatrice Gainey, William "Bill" Clayton Jr., Joseph Lee, Tommy Elvin and Johnny Calvin.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Gainey (Eva), Donna Gray (Walter) of Yulee, Pam Page (Mike) of Yulee and Kristi Kato (Larry) of Yulee; and his brothers, Marion Gainey (Diana), Merle Gainey, Ray Gainey, Mitchell Gainey (Sharon) and Mike Gainey (Debbie). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
