He is survived by: his children, Michael Robert Pirtle and Melissa Kathryn Claus; his brother Joe Pirtle; his granddaughters, Emily Pirtle and Kristen Pirtle; and his former wife Suzanne MacFarland. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren.
