William Trucano Obituary
William Bill Trucano, 92, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Sebring. He was born July 20, 1920 to William John and Florence (Johnson) Trucano in Vineland, New Jersey. He graduated from High School and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific from 1943 to 1945 aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S.
Cabot as a Radar Operator. After the war, he became a sign painter for Civil Service at McCoy Air Force Base in Orlando, FL. When the base closed, Bill and his family sold their home in Winter Park, FL and in 1977 moved to Toccoa Falls, GA, where they became Dorm Parents at Toccoa Falls College and Bill also assumed the duties of Purchasing Agent for the institution.
In 2005, Bill and May moved to Manassas, VA to be closer to their daughters and their families. In 2009, the two moved to Sebring, FL, due to Bill's health and in 2010 moved into Fairway Pines in Sebring. Bill was a member of the DAV and served as an officer in the VFW. He was an avid stamp and coin collector, an amateur furniture maker and an amateur photographer, having many published photos to his credit.
He was an Elder in the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Orlando; a Deacon at Grace Baptist Church, Toccoa; Potomac Crest Baptist Church, Woodbridge, VA and Sunridge Baptist Church, Sebring. He was preceded in death by his father, William John Trucano; his mother, Florence Johnson Trucano Skilton Vogt and his sisters, Mable Kline and Marguerite Eichmann.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, May Trucano, Sebring; children, William Bill Trucano, Jr. and wife, Carolyn, Sebring; Katharine Kathy Reesey and husband Larry, Woodbridge, VA; Jacqueline Jacquie Ellis and husband Jerry, Manassas, VA; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Jon Trucano, Indianapolis, IN; Ben White, wife Melissa and children Bailey, Brayden and Savannah, Warrenton, VA; Joe Trucano, wife Amy and children Luca and Nathan, Braidwood, IL; Jeremi Ellis, wife Morgan and daughter Dakota, Woodbridge, VA; Beth Pensinger and husband Jerimiah, Conway, SC; Jana Jenkins and husband Antonio, Centreville, VA and Kayla Reesey, Woodbridge, VA.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013, at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, with Rev. William J. Trucano, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home the hour preceding the service, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
