He was loved and cherished by many people including: his grandmother Edith Straughter; his children, Ronald Keith Brookins and Donna Laverne Brookins Jones; his grandfather Bubbie; his wife Dorothy; his parents, Gilbert Brookins, and Blanche Brookins, Sr.; his siblings, Gilbert Brookins, Jr., Janet Brookins Piner and Eleanor Brookins Kirby; and his niece Renee Michele Kirby.
