He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Louise Frances Stephenson and Thomas Joel Frederick Walters; his wife Mary Blanche Pettyjohn Walters; his brothers, Daniel, Charles Frederick and Brian Thomas; his children, Richard Joel Jr. and April Walters Hughes; and his grandchildren, Paul Richard Hughes Jr., Richard Joel Walters III and Elizabeth Wren Walters.
