He was predeceased by: his parents, Elijah Lewis and Hannah Lewis; his wife Leatrice H. Lewis; his daughter Gertrude E. Solomon; his siblings, Robert Baker and Claudia Mae Ingram; his niece Rose Ingram; and his granddaughter Nacole Cockrell.
He is survived by: his sons, Elder Ray D. Smith (Teresa) and Raven J. Lewis (Vanessa); his brother Jerry Lewis (Rosa Mae); his niece Tomeka Brown (Hubert); his brothers-in-law, Robert L. Norton (Rosemary) and Elias Norton Jr.; his grandchildren, Deleshia (Cedric), Rayna, Elijah, Julius, Hannah, Joseph, April (Tahid), Ray D. Jr., Stephen, Jessica, Rojelio, Nicole (Damon) and Marcus; his great grandchildren, Jamir, Jada, Tahid Jr., Kadia, Aria, Keaten, Liam, Kennedy, Kameron, Stephen Jr., Breylan and Ray Daniel; and his godsons, Ed Brown (Vanessa) and Mitchell Bryan. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
