He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Stephen Pektas and Evelyn Hoyson Szymczak; his siblings, Richard, William (Peggy) and Elizabeth "Betty" Elder (Wayne); his nephew Rich Jr.; and his great grandchild Preston Cunningham.
He is survived by: his wife Beth; and his children, Leslie Schulte, Peter, Karen Cunningham (Dan), Philip (Tonja) and David. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as his nieces, nephew, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Joseph requested to be honored with perpetual mass requests on the anniversary of his passing at Saints Peter & Paul Church in Winter Park or with The Salesian Mission Order of New Rochelle, New York.
