He is survived by: his wife Dell McQuaig Pate; and his daughters-in-law, Leslie Sanders, John Pate (Brigette), Jack Pate (Brenda), Robert Sanders, Michael Pate (Tonya), Tommy Pate (Holly), Tracy Pate (Lorri) and William Pate (Dawn). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of John Pate to the Missionary Fund at Eastern Avenue Baptist Church.
