He was predeceased by: his former wife Margaret Threlkeld (Meg); his parents, George and Dorothy; his son Karl; his sisters, Ruth and Carol; and his grandson Jesse Shaw.
He is survived by: his daughter Ann Kite (Ray); his grandson Cory Shaw (Emily); his great grandchildren, Ella and Lauren Shaw; and his stepchildren, Steven Hall, Matt Hall (Tracy) and Carolyn Williamson (David). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
