She was predeceased by: her parents, Dewey Hinson and Sarah Hinson (Beckum); her husband Alvyn Smith; her daughter Donna Peavy (Smith); and her siblings, Marie Hammond and Eddie Hinson.

She is survived by: her daughter Sherry Purvis (Smith) of Lake Worth; and her grandchildren, Lori Conlin, Patricia Messner, James Purvis, Matthew Bryan, Jerrett Bryan and Ashley Bryan. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren and five great, great grandchildren.
