He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira V. Sr. Sturgeon and Anna Sturgeon (Laurent); his brothers, Roy, Ed, Ray and Tom Sturgeon; and his grandson Nicholas Davino.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Davino (Rick) of Patoka, IL, Carol Moore of Patoka, IL, Donald Sturgeon of Patoka, IL, Karen Johnson (AJ) of Centralia, IL, Jeff Sturgeon (Robin) of Patoka, IL, Kenneth Sturgeon (Michelle) of Winter Garden, FL, Mike Murphy (Carol), Bonnie McDaniel and Chris Murphy (Jill); his grandchildren, Stephanie Houston (John), Ginger Davino (Matt), Melanie Burns, Shannon Moore, Jennifer Phillips, Stoney Sturgeon (Heather), Jana Sturgeon, Dennis Sturgeon (Jennifer), Bo Sturgeon (Jacob), Ryan Sturgeon (Dani), Joey Sturgeon, Aidan Sturgeon and Connor Sturgeon; his sister Dorothy Leek of Junction City; and his son-in-law Brad Moore. He is also survived by 11 step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in Ira's honor to the family's wishes of Pratt Cemetery.
