He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Barbara Ann Hurst Smallwood; his children, Tammy Smallwood Roark (Steven), Donald Burland Smallwood, Jr., Brenda Suzanne Smallwood and Joseph Patrick Smallwood (Tonya); his granddaughters, Amanda Roark Bonura, Kathryn Roark Reis, Caitlin Alane Smallwood and Carsyn Ann Smallwood; his great grandchild Darren Hunter Reis; and his siblings, Amelia Dampier, Maxine Sharpe, Sarah Varnum, Lugene Schinagel, Joann Starr, Abigail McGehee and Carl Smallwood. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
