He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Lela Moore; his parents, Floyd Matthews and Dee Matthews; and his brothers, Bobby Matthews, Buddy Matthews and Ralph Matthews.
He is survived by: his wife Odessa Simmons Matthews; his children, Larry Keathly of Rose Budd and Connie Matthews of Dothan, Ala; his grandchildren, Adrenne Chapman, Matt Matthews, Marcy Jordan, Bill Keathly, Krist Drollinger and Taylor Blalock; and his siblings, Charles Matthews and Frances Williams. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
