He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hershel and Nettie G. Yates Thomas; and his siblings, Robbie Nell Scott, Ruby Dell Morris, Mary Evelyn Summerlin, Jacqueline Iona Thomas, James, Leonard, Earl and Max Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy F. Thomas of Westville, FL; his children, Hershel LaDon Thomas of Esto, FL and Lovetta Rebecca McCarthy (Bill) of Slocomb, AL; his stepdaughter Rachel Retzer (Arnold) of Clearwater, FL; his sisters, Mildred "Mikki" Perkins of Westville, FL, Patricia "Pat" Galloway of Westville, FL and Peggy Blakeney (Charles) of Geneva, AL; and his close friends, Wendell Peacock of Westville, FL and Robert Monaghan of Geneva, AL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
