He was predeceased by: his father Ray Heckman; and his siblings, Lois (Lloyd Hill) and Russel Heckman (Nancy). He is survived by: his wife Prop; his children, Thomas and Katrina (David Livengood); his grandchildren, Lucy, Brynn and Andrew; and his brother Richard (Connie Heckman).
