He was predeceased by: his parents, Davis Hawkins Owen and Katie Gertrude Mikell Owen; his wife Laura Barnes Owen; and his brother Kenneth Paul Owen. He is survived by: his children, Melvin L. "Larry" Owen (Tammy), Emily Walker and Sanford; his brother Jerry Owen (Bonnie); and his sister-in-law Glenda Owen. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
