He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard "Dick" Gilbert and Priscilla Gilbert. He is survived by: his wife Susan Kelley; his siblings, Virginia Wheeler-Jones (Jim), William Gilbert (Janice) and Rodrick Gilbert (Zoe); and his grandchildren, Noah, Tristan, Samuel, Molly, Lucia and Neil. He is also survived by his wife, three children, and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Salem United Methodist Church or New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Drive The Villages, FL 32162.

“We always enjoyed Rick as a neighbor, friend, and veteran. He was always helpful. He had an excellent sense of humor, which is sometimes difficult in the nutty world we live in today. We observed his “soft” side as an animal lover who invested hours walking the dogs. He served our nation nobly as a US Navy Officer and Naval Academy graduate. We shall pray for comfort as Susie and the family adjust to Rick’s absence. Bob & Rose Jordan”
