He was predeceased by: his mother Sandra Smith. He is survived by: his father Philip Smith Sr. of Wauchula; his wife Mary Smith; his children, Christopher Smith of South Carolina, Michael Smith of Gastonia and Sandra Smith of Gastonia; and his sister Sharon Smith (Eric) of Avon Park, Florida.. He is also survived by three nieces, ten nephews, three great-nieces, and one great-nephew.
