He was predeceased by: his parents, James Roswell Saunders and Mattie Mae Saunders; his wife Caroline Mae Weigle; his brother James Roswell Saunders, Jr.; and his son-in-law Daniel Wilson.
He is survived by: his children, Carla Kay Prescott (Gary), Beth Allison Wilson, Diana Lynn Callaghan (Mark) and Craig Carlton Saunders (Gretchen); and his grandchildren, Lesley Mitchell, Loren Mednick, Ben Prescott, Katelyn Coggins, Cherise Pashkow, Trenton Wilson and Baylie Callaghan. He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.
