He is survived by his brother John Carley, and sister Emily French . He was born in LaGrange Georgia to Jean Carley (Henderson) and father, William David Carley, Sr.
After meeting in a singles group at Northland Community Church in Longwood Florida in 1991 , Dave and his wife, Linda, worked as a team in their personal, professional, and spiritual lives. Dave’s spent most of his life caring for family members and friends including Linda’s parents . He led several mission trips to Brasov, Romania to care for street children, and was a disaster coordinator with his wife Linda for the Red Cross in Seminole County for several years. They were active members in Seminole South and Lake Mary Rotary Clubs, Orlando Photography Club, and Lake Mary and Daytona Beach Toastmaster Clubs.
After serving in the Air Force during Vietnam, he graduated from Rollins College with a degree in criminal justice. He had a walking route as a letter carrier for the Post office in College Park for years before going into management. After his retirement from the Post office, he worked as law firm administrator for Linda Schoonover P.A, became his wife’s campaign manager for her successful bid to become a circuit judge in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit. He continued serving as her office manager for Carley Law, LLC, and his wife’s book editor after their move to Daytona Beach.
As a couple, they enjoyed sailing a 30-foot Catalina, ballroom dancing, and biking. They traveled throughout the United States and the world including France, Austria, and went on several Mediterranean, Caribbean and Alaskan cruises.
After returning from a mission trip to Egypt in June 2021, Dave was hospitalized for covid. He fought the lingering and severe consequences of Delta Covid for more than 16 months. His enduring faith and strength to overcome numerous infections and surgeries amazed staff and friends and his warrior spirit to battle was an inspiration. Well done good and faithful servant. We will meet again.
