He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther P. Murphy, Sr. and Emily "Lena" Murphy; and his siblings, Nadine Borum, Inez White, Donita Turner, Marie Megahee, Hope Baker and L. P. Murphy, Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Lewis W. and Margaret Murphy Moore (Peter); his grandchildren, Sydney, Wilson Murphy, Peter, Patrick and Graham Moore; and his friend Ocean Grill.
