He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert G. Fernald and Norma J. Fernald (Crosby); his son James R Fernald; and his granddaughter Lindsey May Allard. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Brunetti Fernald of Bass Harbor; his daughters, Katherine Fernald of Somesville, Rebecca Carbone (Dano) of Denver, Amy Adcock (Jon) of San Diego and Michelle Allard (David) of Durham; his stepchildren, Paul Brunetti of Arkansas and Sally Brunetti of Somesville; his grandchildren, William Blake (Danielle), Ethan Blake (Carli), Caroline Fernald, Gabriella Carbone Farrell, Isabella Carbone, Madison Adcock Nowlen, Fletcher Adcock and Devin Allard; his stepgrandchildren, Zach Brunetti, Sam Hoff and Kate Hoff; his great grandchildren, Liam Blake, Zaydon and Maesie Allard; his brother Thomas J "Tom" Fernald (Carroll); his nephew Jay M. Fernald (Casey); and his nieces, Stephanie Goodrich (Jack) and Christii Maquillan (late James R. "Jim"). He is also survived by mother of his five children and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Jordan-Fernald (1139 Main St, Mt Desert, ME 04660). A masonic service will be held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 5:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Saviour's Episcopal Church (41 Mt Desert St, Bar Harbor, ME 04609). A burial will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Brookside Cemetery.
