He was predeceased by: his father Alfonso Darna; his wife Evelyn Wilbur; his mother Edith Padilla Darna; and his brother Louis Alfonso "Dick" Darna. He is survived by: his children, Merritt "Scooter" Darna, Jr. and Susanne Dudley (Chris); his grandchildren, Brianna, Brandon, Colgan and Levi; and his brother Stanley Darna (Lois). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their children.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home (1935 S Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293). A celebration of life was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A reception was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the The Temptation Restaurant (Caribbean Room).
