It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gladys Marie Mechling of Venice, Florida, born in Volant, Pennsylvania, who passed away on June 13, 2024, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank G. Barr, Sr. and Rosella M. Barr (Lewis); her spouse Douglass E. Mechling; and her siblings, Frank G. Barr, Jr. and Thelma M. Pearson.

She is survived by: her children, Scott W. Mechling of Halifax, Vicki M. Gates (Dan) of Howard and Pamela D. Markel (John) of Bellefonte; her grandchildren, Heather Tomeo (Eric), Jethro Mechling (Linzie), Brittany Workman (Josh), Jacob Gates (Kendra), James Mechling, Jonathan Mechling and Samantha Campbell (Tyler); her great grandchildren, Alyssa Mechling, Madyson Workman, Kaydence Campbell, Larissa Workman, Peyton Gates, Milana Tomeo, Phoebe Mechling, Trevyn Tomeo, Aria Gates, Owen Campbell, Kenna Gates and Lane Campbell; and her siblings-in-law, Bernard "Bud" Pearson of New Wilmington, PA and Deb Clews (Dan) of Rehoboth Beach, DE. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Relay for Life of Centre County, 1760 W. College Ave, State College, PA 16801.

“Just Terry (Barr). I hope the many happy memories you have of being with Gladys help you through this time. Unfortunately I and my family won't be able to be at the service Saturday in person, but we will certainly be with you in mind, spirit, and prayer. God bless you all.”
