He was predeceased by: his wives, Margaret Brice Akins and Sandy Ashley Akins; and his sister Harriett Read. He is survived by: his grandchildren, Elliott, Maggie Bottoms, Jeremiah, Joshua Hood and Rhett Akins; and also, Suzanne Bottoms (Sean Critelli), Emmitt Bottoms, Rebecca Hood (Raymond) and Frank Akins (Kim Dean). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
