He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Giffen and Margaret Giffen; his wife Christine; his siblings, Barbara Swift and Richard Giffen; and his children, Debra Kelley (Shane), Barbara Melton, Doug Giffen (Cindy) and Rob Swift.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Matthew Melton, Mindy Frey (Luke), Amanda McGehee (Ryan), Scott Kelley (Ashley), Justin Giffen, Lucas Giffen, Barbra Ann Swift and Jeanmarie Swift; and his great grandchildren, Lisa Turner, Eric Turner Madelyn Kelley and Charlene Kelley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in his name to the Space Museum or the Shriners Children's Hospital.
