He is survived by: his wife Mary Kay Myers Matteson; his children, Margaret Matteson Gallipeau and Michael Matteson; and his grandchildren, Megan Gallipeau, Kyle Gallipeau, Mary Rose Gallipeau, Sam Matteson, Molly Gallipeau, Marie Gallipeau, Peter Gallipeau, Monica Gallipeau and Paul Gallipeau.

His contributions to imaging were transformational being awarded multiple patents related to reconnaissance.
