She was predeceased by: her parents, James Robert and Mary Montee Shope (Justice); her son James Scott Monroe; her sister Billie Berte Harrell (Shope); her granddaughter Isla Santello; and her former husbands, Robert S. Monroe, Sr. and Layton T. Corbin.
She is survived by: her sister Mary Robbin Shope Houston (Mitchell); her children, Robert S. Monroe Jr. (Donna) of St. Louis, MO, Amy Prue (Kevin) of Madison, CT, Megan Covino (Greg) of Branford, CT and Katy Santello (Todd) of Birmingham, AL.; her grandchildren, James R. McGowan, Robert S. Monroe III (Meghan), Brandon P. Monroe, Macy Monroe (Sarah Lewis), Nicholas Prue (Jennifer), Alexandra Prue, Michael Covino, Ryan Covino, Christian Covino, Emma Santello and Molly Santello; and her great grandchildren, Emmett Cole Monroe, Cayleigh Prue and Kennedy Prue. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made in Joye's name to American Arthritis Foundation, Donate life Connecticut or to Brevard County SPCA.
