He was predeceased by: his parents, James L. Cooper and Bertha Cooper; his wife Mamie Lee Williams; his son Emanuel C. Hedgeman (Gloria); and his brothers, Horace Cooper, James Cooper, Joseph Cooper and Harold Lewis.

He is survived by: his great grandchildren, PeePop, PopPop, PeePaw and GrandPaw; his children, Randy L. Sr. (Sandra), Valerie L. and Shawn E. (Jameca); his daughter-in-law Jeanette Hedgeman; his sisters, Gladys Fayson (George), Bertha Hickman (Izell), Verdell McKinney and Beatrice Flagg (Henry); and his brother-in-law Daniel Williams. He is also survived by godchildren, and a host of family and friends.
