He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Hanst (Peggy) and Donald Leroy Hanst; his wife Linda Tripp Hanst; and also Margaret James Hanst. He is survived by: his brother Michael Torrence Hanst; and his children, Kimberly Warren, Catherine Sauers, Christine Arnholz, Darrell Tope and Douglas Tope. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
