He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Patrick Nolan Sr. and Mary Helen Nolan (Santonastaso Brigante); his brother Daniel Nolan; his nephews, Daniel "Little Danny" Nolan and Jeffrey Scott Schlinger; his great-nephew Jeffrey Scott Schlinger; and also Mary Helen Nolan.
He is survived by: his wife Emmy; his daughters, Mary Koller (Arno) and Colleen Gregorio; his granddaughter Abigail Koller Koceniak (Patryk); and his siblings, Martin Nolan, Maryanne Benedickson, Catherine Mills and Rose Marie Sztybel.
