Nichols and Lilian Nichols (Porter); his sons, Steve Nichols (Jeanmarie "Bucky") and Dale Nichols (Donna); and his grandchildren, Chase Nichols (Chrissy), Joshua Nichols (Brittney), Sabrina Wilson (Peanut), Heather Box (Cedric) and Austin Nichols (Shelby). He was also cherished by 10 great grandchildren.
