With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bethel W. Slater of Tavares, Florida, born in Grundy, Virginia, who passed away on February 12, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Edward Slater; and her children, Freddie and Maxie Hackney. She is survived by: her grandsons, Paul Hackney (Audrey) of Woonsocket and Steve Hackney (Jenny) of St. Cloud, Florida.; her great grandchildren, Hannah Edwards (Bobby) of St. Cloud, Elizabeth Albright (Nick) of Lake Nona, Samuel Hackney of St. Cloud, Ainsley Hackney of St. Cloud and Julianna Hackney of St. Cloud; her great great grandchild Wesley Steven Edwards; her son-in-law Eddie Hackney (Carolyn) of Tavares; and her nieces, Margaret Reeves of Ocala, Debbie Peak of Kentucky and Mary Jean Fields of Kentucky.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the First Baptist Church of Tavares (124 N Joanna Ave, Tavares, FL 32778). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, February 19th 2025 at the Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens (5050 SW 20th St, Ocala, FL 34474).
