She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. Patrick Shanahan; her parents, Norman Nelson and Vercele Foster Nelson; her siblings, Georgia Squires, Jackie Erikson and Robert Nelson; her grandson Patrick E. Shanahan; and her daughters-in-law, Jeanne Hagstrom Shanahan and Shana Strom Shanahan.
She is survived by: her children, Michael, Matthew (Suzanne), Mary Magner (Jeffrey), Patrick (Karol), David, Catherine Whitfield (Kermit), Jack (Laura), James and Peter (Jennifer); her brother Buzz Nelson (Garda); and her brother-in-law Michael Shanahan (Connie). She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and twelve nieces and nephews.
Friends may, if they wish, contribute to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in lieu of flowers.
