He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ralph Thompson, Sr. and JoAnne Moon Thompson; his grandparents, Lester William Moon and Rachael Knight Moon; and his brother James "Rocky" Ralph Thompson, Jr..
He is survived by: his sons, Andrew Lee Thompson and Myles Fletcher Thompson; and his siblings, Rachael "Sissy" Thompson Hofmeister (Jeff), Kelly Thompson Langston (Michael), William Joseph Thompson and Henry Durwood Thompson (Tracie). He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews.
