We are sad to announce that on July 13, 2020, at the age of 83, George Washington Bennett of Tallahassee, Florida passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Dennis and Annie Bennett Sawyer; his children, Terry L. Bennett, Vicky Nelson Smith and Willie James Bennett; his siblings, Annie Bell Footman, Cornelius Bennett, Jr., Elder Carl L. Bennett, Sr., Enoch Caldwell Bennett, Martha Anne Payne, Katie Barbara Scott, Lola Mae Davis Johnson and Elder Mack N. Bennett, Sr.; and his former wife Hallie Mitchell.
He is survived by: his children, Sandy Bennett Jefferson of Tallahassee, Georgetta Bennett of Tallahassee and Tommie L. Bennett (Lisa) of Manassas, Virginia; his grandchildren, Tia M. Simmons of Tallahassee, Hallye A. Attaway of Tallahassee, John Attaway of Tallahassee, Amaree Attaway of Tallahassee, Blake F. Jefferson of Fairfax, Tanesia Thomas and Terrance Thomas of Crawfordville, Florida; his stepgrandchildren, Marcus Calhoun of Manassas, Virginia and Brittany Elliot of Manassas, Virginia; his siblings, Rupert Bennett (Earlean) of Tallahassee and Dorothy Mack of Bridgeport, Connecticut; his son-in-law Fredrick Smith, Sr. of Crawfordville; and his sister-in-law Mary Bennett of Atlanta, Georgia.. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family members and friends.
Due to the continuing Covid-19 guidelines, social distancing and masks are required.
