Sary Fox Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sary Fox of Sunrise, Florida, who passed away on August 23, 2020, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her father, Abraham Fleischer, her mother, Augusta (Gusti) Fleischer, née Lipper, her first husband, Lou Behr, her brother Isidore Bernard Fleischer, and her second husband Bernard Fox. She is survived by : her children, Alan Behr (Julie), Ken Behr (Fran), Eric Behr (Lynn); her grandchildren, Evalena, Cody, Alexis, Sydney, and Ryan; her niece Georgette Fleischer, and her grandniece, Augusta May Fleischer.
Sary née Fleischer was born in Leipzig, Germany, and in 1933-1934 emigrated with her family first to Poland and then to Flatbush, Brooklyn; the family later moved to Seagate, Brooklyn, where they were visited by her maternal grandmother Rosa Lipper, her maternal grandfather having died in the Sachsenhausen camp and later buried in the New Jewish Cemetery in Leipzig. Sary studied Fashion, and worked as an illustrator. After she married Lou Behr, she moved to Wayne, New Jersey, and later New Orleans, where Lou died. Sary relocated to Hollywood, Florida with her mother Gusti Fleischer and her mother-in-law, "Nonny" Behr. She was active in the Hollywood Playhouse, where she performed, particularly adept at movement and dance. Charlie Chaplin's little tramp was an enduring alter ego. The last decades of Sary's life were spent in Hollywood with second husband Bernard Fox. Sary was a congregant at Tempel Beth El in Hollywood.
