He was predeceased by: his parents, Royce Simmons and Jay Simmons (Willis); his wife Linda; and his sister Selma Shenefield. He is survived by: his sons, Sammy Simmons (Nikki) of Ruskin and Dean Simmons (Chivon) of Riverview; his grandchildren, Morgan, Royce, Hailey and Garrett; his brother-in-law Mike Shenefield (Jason Shenefield); his nephew Jason Shenefield (Mike Shenefield); and his niece Cindy Cummings (Jeff).
