Shirley Thayer Obituary

We are sad to announce that on July 27, 2024, at the age of 86, Shirley Thayer in Summerfield, Florida, born in Pierrepont, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Shirley may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Shirley touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.

She was predeceased by: her significant other Thomas O'Brien; her parents, Mary Louise McDonald and Lewis Erskine VanBrocklin; and her sons, Joseph and Scott Swinyer.

She is survived by: her daughter Peggy; her son-in-law Dennis Thompson; her children, Shawn Swinyer and Everett; and her daughter-in-law Cori Swinyer. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
