He was predeceased by: his father Eric Maehara. He is survived by: his mother Carolyn Alex Sancilio; his stepfather Fred D. Sancilio of Stuart, Florida.; and his half-siblings, Tasha Maehara of Australia, Elizabeth Maehara of California, Charlene Mariner of Florida and Ryan MacDonald of Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in loving memory can be made to Amnesty International (where he had work), or by planting a tree in his honor.
