He is survived by: his wife Gloria; his children, Harris, Susan, James Jr. and Ruth; and his grandchildren, Margaret, Amanda, Robert, James and Jordan.
He served additionally on the boards of the Public Broadcast System (PBS) and the Tax Foundation.
