He was predeceased by: his parents, Shurleah C. Persang and Frank J. Matt; his brothers, William Persang and Frank Matt; his nephew Nickolas Matt; and his great grandchild Soren Thompson.
He is survived by: his son Jonathan R. Matt (Michelle Matt); his wife Georgia A. Williams; his children, Christy Matt-Harris (Patrick Harris), George Matt Jr. (Gail Matt) and Kimberly Matt; his grandchildren, Erin Hildebrandt (Jake Poore), Ashley Hildebrandt (Drew Thompson), Markie Hildebrandt (Blake Hildebrandt) and Steven Matt; and his great grandchildren, Taylor Rongstad, Coltin Thompson, Jayden Poore and Lily Poore.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ferreira Funeral Services & Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel (14397 US-301, Starke, FL 32091). A rosary will be held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel (14397 US-301, Starke, FL 32091). A Mass will be held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Edward's Catholic Church (441 N Temple Ave, Starke, FL 32091). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Florida National Cemetery (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513).
He proudly served as a brother in the Knights of Columbus, embodying the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity.
