He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Kanipes and Maxie Kanipes; his son Johnny Kanipes; his sister Mary; and his brother-in-law Fate Harper.
He is survived by: his children, John Kohler, Stacy Kanipes, Benjamin Kanipes Jr., Penny Kanipes, Marty Kanipes, Jason Kanipes, Cheyanne Kanipes and Dakota Kanipes; his stepdaughter Janie Milliken; his grandchildren, Jaxsen, Maddox, Mikayla Kanipes, Pam Kohler and John Kohler Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Isaiah Kohler, Sabrina, Sean Hicks, Paul and Ben Kohler.
