It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Burton H Harres Jr. of Spring Hill, Florida, born in Columbia, Illinois, who passed away on October 6, 2024, at the age of 72, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his sons, Michael R. Harres and David P. Harres; his stepchildren, Anthony M. Pazanese and Kathryn M. Pazanese; and his grandchildren, Emerson, Colton, Luke and Bennett.

“I first met Burt in the spring of 1975 when he was a summer intern at USF and worked with me in the Assignment Office of the Division of Housing and Food Services. We became good friends and colleagues for 49+ years. As our careers developed over the years we remained in regular contact even though we did not work at the same college/university. Burt was very insightful and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a great friend and I will miss him. RIP Burt David Persky”
