It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Allen Gassaway (Sneads, Florida), born in Atlanta, Georgia, who passed away on July 8, 2024, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Simpson "Mac" McPherson Gassaway and Ida Lew Gassaway; and his brother James "Jim" Gassaway. He is survived by: his wife Sandra Jeanne Gassaway; his children, Richard "Rick" McPherson Gassaway, Russell Allen Gassaway Sr. and Patricia Susan Tessier; his stepdaughters, Evelyn Ann Gassaway and Virginia Katherine Wolff; his grandchildren, Rachael Lynn Medina, Whitney Victoria Woodard, Ashlynne Claire Tessier, Elizabeth "Zibby" Anne Gassaway, Russell Allen Gassaway II, Russell Jonathan Wolff and Lawrence "Trey" Albert Tessier III; his great grandchildren, Blake, Talynn, Elizabeth "Lizzie" Medina and Alexander "Xander" Bourassa; and his sister Sally Roberson. He is also survived by his family and friends.
