He was predeceased by: his son Joseph Jurgensen Jr.; his parents, Ethel Jurgensen and Joseph Jurgensen; and his siblings, Richard Jurgensen and Judith Blanks (Jurgensen).

He is survived by: his wife Barbara (Braicovich); his daughter Stephanie; and his brother Kenneth Jurgensen.
