He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Short; his parents, Bertha Short and Mitchell Short; and his sisters, Glenna Short and Eloise Hamilton.
He is survived by: his children, Deborah Caudill, Anita Brown, Timothy Short, Daryl Short and Cathy Short; his brothers, Sonny, Donald, Quentin and Gary Short; his grandchildren, Tom Charlton, Brent Brown Jr., Meagan Varnadoe and Michael Short; and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ackerman, Addison Charlton, Carter Ackerman and Holden Varnadoe. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
